Job summary

Spectrum Plastics Group in the United States is seeking an experienced Operations Leader to coach and develop high-performing teams, drive accountability, and achieve operational excellence across productivity, quality, safety, and business objectives.

The role focuses on developing manufacturing processes, leading teams, coordinating with executives, and delivering continuous improvements to meet customer requirements and production plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or engineering; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of manufacturing operations leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication and team development skills.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic goals with hands-on execution.
  • Experience recruiting and leading high-performing teams.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, purchasing, and business performance drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute operational strategies to improve productivity and on-time delivery.
  • Oversee development and implementation of manufacturing processes and tooling.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing operations team.
  • Partner with executive leadership to set growth and profitability objectives.
  • Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align manufacturing with goals.
  • Review new business opportunities including quotes, capacity planning.
  • Develop short- and long-range plans, budgets, and resource strategies.
  • Manage incentives programs and employee development initiatives.
  • Maintain cross-functional relationships and report to executives.

Core Functions
  • Lead and execute operational strategies to drive productivity, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, tooling, and production capabilities for both custom and proprietary products.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing operations team.
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish and achieve long-term growth, profitability, and operational excellence objectives.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance results.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to align manufacturing strategies with business goals and customer requirements.
  • Evaluate and implement innovative purchasing, design, manufacturing, and distribution solutions that support business growth and customer expansion.
  • Develop short- and long-range operational plans, budgets, and resource strategies to meet current and future business demands.
  • Review and support new business opportunities, including product quotations, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
  • Drive initiatives that strengthen product development, manufacturing efficiency, and overall resource utilization.
  • Develop and manage performance-based incentive programs and employee development initiatives.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships and provide regular updates to executive leadership on key operational issues, risks, and opportunities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements
Background/Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of manufacturing operations leadership experience, preferably in plastics or a related industry.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic business objectives with hands-on operational execution.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, purchasing, budgeting, and business performance drivers.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex or undefined situations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with customers, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Track record of delivering operational improvements, business growth, and successful product development within budget and timeline expectations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods as needed.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials or equipment.
  • Reaching above, at, and below shoulder level.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders; bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Performing routine manual tasks which may require gross motor skills and occasional fine motor dexterity.
  • Operating a motor vehicle as needed for business purposes.
  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor environments.
  • Occasional exposure to dust, odors, fumes, and industrial noise.
  • Occasional travel is required to support business and operational needs.
