Job summary

Geronimo Power is seeking a Solar Plant Manager to provide onsite leadership for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the 250 MW Portage Solar facility near Plover, Wisconsin. This role leads a Field Technician team, manages site operations and maintenance, supports budget and outage planning, and ensures work complies with prudent utility practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, technical school certificate, five years of related experience or power-industry training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years of experience across renewable or other power-generation development, design, permitting, construction, operations, or maintenance; solar experience is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience leading a direct team or group of employees and demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse groups.
  • Working knowledge of electrical facility operations and maintenance, including low- and medium-voltage systems, electrical schematics, and technical prints.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced operating environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management, reporting, diagnostic, and troubleshooting systems.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms; experience establishing or improving preventive maintenance programs is preferred.
  • Experience with high-voltage maintenance, switching, and test equipment is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and on short notice when operational needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Support NERC compliance and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and manage the annual site operating budget, monitor expenses, and support fiscal accountability.
  • Oversee plant performance, analyze operational issues, participate in root cause analyses, and present findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership.

About This Role

Geronimo Power is seeking a Solar Plant Manager to provide onsite leadership for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the 250 MW Portage Solar facility near Plover, Wisconsin. This role leads a high-performing team of Field Technicians, manages site operations and maintenance, supports budget and outage planning, and ensures work is performed in accordance with prudent utility practices, regulatory requirements, and company standards.   • Maintain accurate site records in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ensure required documentation is complete and timely.
  • Support NERC compliance and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and manage the annual site operating budget, monitor expenses, and support fiscal accountability.
  • Oversee plant performance, analyze operational issues, participate in root cause analyses, and present findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering plant performance, project status, expenses, contractual requirements, and other key operating metrics.
  • Support construction-phase quality assurance and quality control activities and ensure an effective transition from construction to operations.
  • Develop and maintain site procedures with input from appropriate subject matter experts.
  • Establish and maintain site tooling, spare parts, equipment, and inventory controls, including cycle counts and supplier reorders.
  • Administer warranties, submit and track claims, and reconcile loaned parts with appropriate parties.
  • Manage capital improvement programs, operational initiatives, and site environmental permits, including the vegetation management strategy.
  • Travel occasionally to other plants or locations to support maintenance, troubleshooting, campaigns, training, or meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Construction-to-operations turnover is completed with clear ownership, accurate documentation, and minimal operational disruption.
  • Operational issues are identified early, resolved effectively, and communicated through timely reporting and cross-functional partnership.

Pay Range for the posted level: $105,000 - $130,000 plus target annual bonus opportunity of 25%. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and demonstrated market-relevant expertise.
