Job summary

Geronimo Power seeks a Manager of Construction Projects to lead utility-scale renewable energy construction from pre-construction through turnover to Operations. • Experience managing budgets, schedules, contracts, contractors, field execution, risk, quality, and project controls.
• Knowledge of construction safety, permitting, commissioning, and handoff requirements.
• Ability to lead cross-functional work, influence without authority, and communicate with executives and field teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Development, Environmental/Permitting, Meteorology, Property, Engineering, Transmission Interconnection, Finance, and Operations teams for planning and delivery.
• Manage relationships with construction managers, engineering partners, contractors, consultants, third-party engineers, and financial partners.
• Develop and enforce design standards, construction criteria, documentation requirements, and quality-control expectations.
• Oversee engineering and construction quality, ensuring designs are followed and final documentation/tests are complete.
• Coordinate construction documentation for due diligence reviews by lenders/investors/engineers.
• Ensure permit conditions and field staking meet requirements and are satisfied.
• Lead transitions from pre-construction to mobilization, including readiness reviews and risk escalation.
• Establish/monitor project controls and KPIs for safety, schedule, quality, cost, and customer service.
• Provide oversight to site teams and support turnover to Operations.
• Support Stage Gate planning for projects in Stage 4 and beyond.
• Visit active sites; travel ~30–40% as portfolio requires.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

About This Role

The Manager of Construction Projects leads construction execution across a significant portion of Geronimo Power’s renewable energy portfolio, from pre-construction planning and mobilization through commercial operation and handoff to Operations. The role is accountable for budget, bidding, contracting, schedule, quality, safety, field execution, project controls, and cross-functional coordination. This position also supports portfolio planning and Stage Gate readiness to help deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with company standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects from pre-construction through commercial operation and transition to Operations.
• Own construction budgets, bid processes, contracting strategy, project schedules, forecasts, and field execution oversight.
• Partner with Development, Environmental and Permitting, Meteorology, Property, Engineering, Transmission Interconnection, Finance, and Operations teams to support project planning, design, and delivery.
• Manage relationships with construction managers, engineering partners, contractors, consultants, third-party engineers, and financial partners.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce design standards, construction criteria, documentation requirements, and quality-control expectations.
• Oversee engineering and construction quality, including compliance with approved designs and the accuracy and completeness of final documentation, testing records, and turnover packages.
• Coordinate construction documentation for due diligence reviews conducted by third-party engineers, lenders, investors, and other financial partners.
• Ensure permit conditions, building permit requirements, field staking needs, and other construction compliance obligations are documented and satisfied.
• Lead the transition from pre-construction into mobilization and execution, including readiness reviews, risk identification, and issue escalation.
• Establish and monitor project controls and key performance indicators for safety, schedule, quality, cost, and customer service; implement corrective actions when performance is off plan.
• Provide oversight, direction, and quality control for site teams while maintaining clear accountability across internal and external partners.
• Provide technical support to Operations for project infrastructure, facilities, and systems as needed during turnover and early operations.
• Support Stage Gate planning and ensure company goals, approvals, and timelines are achieved for projects in Stage 4 and beyond.
• Visit active construction sites as project needs require; average travel is anticipated at 30–40% and may vary by portfolio activity.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Typically, 8+ years of progressive experience in construction, engineering, or project delivery, including responsibility for complex capital projects; utility-scale renewable energy experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, contractors, field execution, risk, quality, and project controls.
• Working knowledge of construction safety practices, permitting, quality assurance, commissioning, commercial operation, and project handoff requirements.
• Ability to lead cross-functional work, influence without direct authority, resolve issues, and communicate effectively with executives, field teams, contractors, and external partners.
• Strong financial, analytical, negotiation, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and project scheduling, document-control, and construction-management tools.
• Ability to travel approximately 30–40%, with additional travel as project needs require.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet site-access requirements.

Pay Range for the posted level: $150,000 – $185,000 plus target annual bonus opportunity of 25%. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and demonstrated market-relevant expertise.
