Job summary

Silgan Containers in Saint Joseph, Missouri, seeks an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at our St. Joseph facility. This role directs all plant departments and reports to the Director of Operations, delivering safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people objectives.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, business acumen, and a commitment to operational excellence, with responsibilities spanning production, maintenance, quality, materials, HR, and finance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive operations experience in manufacturing.
• Strong business acumen and ability to manage P&L performance.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with union contract administration and labor relations.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and driving measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all plant operations across production, maintenance, quality, materials, and HR to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
• Promote a zero-incident safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and regulatory standards.
• Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Establish and manage budgets, cost controls, and continuous improvement programs.
• Drive a results-oriented culture by defining goals, monitoring performance, and developing high-performing teams.
• Partner with Quality and Procurement to ensure production and materials meet customer specifications.
• Build collaboration and teamwork through open communication and effective leadership.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and product quality systems.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by Operations leadership.
