Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at our St. Joseph, Missouri facility. The role reports to the Director of Operations and provides leadership across Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Materials, Human Resources, and Finance.

The Plant Manager will drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance, develop manufacturing strategies, and manage budgets while building high-performing teams. Strong leadership and business acumen are essential.

Qualifications

• An associate's degree or equivalent experience is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong business acumen and ability to manage P&L performance.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with union contract administration and labor relations.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and driving measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all plant operations across production, maintenance, quality, materials, and HR to meet company goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Promote a zero-incident safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety, and regulatory standards.
• Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Establish and manage budgets, cost controls, and continuous improvement programs to achieve performance targets.
• Drive a results‑oriented culture by defining clear goals, monitoring performance, and developing high‑performing teams.
• Partner with Quality and Procurement to ensure production and purchased materials meet customer specifications.
• Build collaboration and teamwork through open communication and effective leadership.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and product quality systems.
• Perform additional duties and projects assigned by Operations leadership.
