Job summary

Martin Marietta seeks a Plant Manager to lead a quarry or sand and gravel operation in California. You will drive safety culture, oversee production, and ensure product quality while controlling costs and optimizing efficiency.

This role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and regulatory compliance within a dynamic mining environment. You will manage maintenance, coordinate with quality control, and mentor hourly staff to sustain peak plant performance and safe operations.

Qualifications

• MSHA compliance and regulations knowledge.
• Experience with aggregate processing equipment and pit design.
• Welding, repairs and maintenance of mobile processing equipment.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and control costs.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety culture and ensure MSHA and company safety regulations are followed.
• Maintain environmental compliance with air quality, water discharge, and reclamation permits.
• Lead site inspections and ensure equipment is safe and reliable.
• Oversee production: stripping, drilling, blasting, hauling, crushing, screening, stockpiling.
• Monitor KPIs (TPH, downtime, yield) and drive process improvements.
• Manage raw materials and finished goods inventories to meet demand.
• Develop and oversee a PM program to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
• Plan maintenance shutdowns with internal teams and vendors.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to meet ASTM, DOT and customer specs.
• Review costs, manage labor, and pursue cost-reduction opportunities.
• Prepare accurate daily production, safety, and maintenance reports.
• Train and mentor hourly staff and provide ongoing feedback.
• Maintain positive work environment and handle employee relations per policy.
