Job summary

CHEP seeks a Plant Manager for our Bolingbrook site to lead total plant operations, drive safety, quality and cost goals, and deliver exceptional customer service. You will direct budgeting, compliance, and people leadership to ensure efficient performance and high customer satisfaction.

You will manage staff development, coordinate with maintenance for equipment reliability, and partner across teams to optimize safety, productivity and costs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and be accountable for the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Champion continuous improvement of safety performance aligned with Zero Harm.
• Oversee equipment reliability and site operations for continuity and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with CHEP procedures, work instructions and safety protocols.
• Drive best practices and continuous improvement to optimize plant performance.
• Maintain site security and manage storage, stock levels and material movement.
• Lead, develop and manage plant staff to meet performance expectations.
• Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded in plant operations.
• Drive innovation, market share growth and customer service across internal/external partners.
• Achieve financial goals by managing productivity, quality and customer service standards.
• Coach personnel to model company values and culture.
• Communicate effectively with customers, employees, peers and senior management.
• Collaborate to maximize core competencies and best practices.
• Ensure safety, accounting and hiring policies are known and adhered to by managers and staff.
• Own full P&L responsibility; analyze P&L statements and balance sheets.
• Support the Director and Regional Manager on special projects.

The Plant Manager provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure operating efficiency and the highest level of customer service.

This position is responsible for managing total plant operations and delivering superior customer satisfaction by driving results and exceeding expectations in the key areas of budgeting, compliance, safety programs, and people management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and be accountable for the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring strict adherence to corporate and legislative requirements.
• Champion the continuous improvement of safety performance, aligned with Brambles’ Zero Harm initiative, while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• In collaboration with the maintenance team oversee equipment reliability across the site ensuring operational continuity and efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance with all task-specific responsibilities outlined in CHEP procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols, maintaining operational consistency.
• Drive the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement processes to optimize plant performance in areas such as safety, quality, and cost control.
• Maintain site security and ensure compliance with service center requirements, including managing storage, stock levels, and movement of materials and equipment.
• Manage, lead, and develop plant staff, fostering accountability and ensuring that all team members meet or exceed performance expectations as outlined in job descriptions and agreements.
• Ensure that customer expectations, both internal and external, are consistently met or exceeded through effective management of plant operations.

• Serve as resource to the Director and Regional Manager for special projects, and deliver the overall vision of the Region

What To Expect

Compensation Statement

The salary range for this position is $86,320 - $129,480 per year.Salary ranges provided take into account a wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications, geographic differentials and other business and organizational needs. Therefore, actual amounts offered may be higher or lower than the range provided. Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation may be part of a total offeringbeyond medical & retirement benefits and may include other monetary incentives or business benefits.
