Job summary

CHEP USA is seeking a Shift Lead to help manage total plant operations for an assigned shift and to deliver superior customer satisfaction by driving results in safety, service, quality, and cost. The role requires hands‑on leadership of forklift, pallet repair, and sort operations, and oversight of shipping/receiving activities.

You will supervise production staff, coordinate schedules, and support training and development while upholding established policies.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated internally and/or externally the ability to lead others.
  • Strong customer focus orientation.
  • Ability to build consensus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to drive safety conscious.
  • Prior experience as supervisor or operations lead in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Role and Responsibilities

The Shift Lead is responsible for assisting the Plant Leadership in managing total plant operations for an assigned shift and delivering superior customer satisfaction by driving results and exceeding expectations in the key areas of safety, service, quality, and cost. Displays functional knowledge of forklift, pallet repair and sort operations, and quality control. Assists with directing the work of the forklift, sort, repair, and shipping and receiving functional teams across the production floor. Assists with supervising the work of all production employees – monitors production and shipping schedules based on availability of raw and finished goods. Provide hands‑on peer leadership to production staff to support training and development, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities. Support plant administration to ensure compliance to established policies and procedures. Enforces policies and procedures to drive inventory accuracy. Fills in for Operations Supervisor(s) as needed.

Lift and carry 78 lbs occasionally, less than 33% of their work shift. Push items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet. Pull items with a maximum force of 34 lbs./feet.
