Job summary

SIG Northlake plant in Illinois seeks an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics, and quality with Lean improvement focus. The role ensures product quality, on-time performance, and cost efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include budgeting, Lean leadership, safety programs, and driving continuous improvement across functions to support corporate objectives. Strong collaboration with the management team is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sound budgeting and planning for manufacturing and support operations.
  • Ability to manage and lead in a Lean environment.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and trust regarding product quality and on-time performance.
  • Ensure optimum effectiveness in scrap control, manufacturing efficiency (OEE), and costs.
  • Ensure an effective Product Safety environment by adhering to US FDA, Dairy, HACCP, AIB, and all other agreed-upon product safety requirements.
  • Provide effective leadership for the facility’s Product Safety Systems, Employee Safety Systems, and their committees.
  • Provide the leadership that supports our quality systems, including efforts regarding NPA-SAFE and customer-required systems.
  • Foster an environment of open communications and trust with all employees.
  • Ensure sound Preventive Maintenance and Repair Programs (TPM).
  • Conducts management meetings with plant personnel to establish, delineate, and review policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures to attain objectives.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, and design and development of new products for consideration by other management team members
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Facilitates employee teams to build cohesiveness and improve the overall results of the respective teams’ tasks.
  • Develop strategies and programs that improve the productivity and efficiency of the company's various work processes.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or procedure changes.
  • Participate in capital planning, implementation, and new product development efforts.Ensure practical personnel orientation, training, and development programs.
  • Establish operating indicators (metrics) that measure departmental performance regularly and communicate this information to upper management and critical customers.
  • This role carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities for supervising direct reports include hiring, training, and planning that clearly measure departmental performance, regularly assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and coaching employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for overseeing food safety.

Compensation: $180K - $220K

The plant manager plays a significant role in our company, providing direction and leadership to the operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics, and quality departments. This role is instrumental in supporting our corporate profit objectives through continuous improvement in machinery, practices, and procedures that reduce product costs, maintain consistently high product quality standards, and enhance employee satisfaction. The role's influence on maintaining high product quality standards is crucial in delivering quality products to our customers. This role also provides leadership that directly impacts improvement programs and systems (Lean). The operations manager fulfills the responsibilities of this role when vacant.

Key Responsibilities
