The Headhunters have been retained by a privately held manufacturer in Allegan County seeking a strategic and hands-on Plant Manager to lead daily operations at a key production facility. This position reports directly to the General Manager and offers the opportunity to drive performance across production, quality, safety, and workforce engagement. With recent investments in automation and process improvements, the company is looking for a leader who can bring energy, accountability, and operational discipline to a stable and growing environment. Compensation includes up to $130,000 base salary and a performance-based bonus, along with fully employer-paid medical benefits and 401k. Our client will consider stretching some on compensation, if necessary, and qualifications merit.

Requirements

  • Lead all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, logistics, and quality assurance.
  • Improve workforce motivation and communication, building accountability and engagement across the facility.
  • Identify and measure KPIs to drive initiatives in safety, delivery, cost, and efficiency.
  • Coach and develop frontline leaders and hourly staff; participate in recruiting and succession planning.
  • Promote and implement continuous improvement tools such as 5S, Gemba walks, root cause analysis, and Kaizen events.
  • Manage plant budgets and support capital expenditure planning; interpret and act on P&L information.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and peers across departments.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of plant or operations management experience in a manufacturing or busy warehouse environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to set expectations, hold teams accountable, and build a performance-driven culture.
  • Hands-on experience defining, tracking, and executing operational KPIs.
  • Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational best practices.
  • Solid communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative and proactive management style.
