Job summary

Martin Marietta Greendale bulk salt production facility seeks an experienced site leader to drive safety, quality and efficiency. You will set strategic objectives, oversee capital projects, and manage a diverse team across operations, maintenance and quality disciplines.

Successful candidates bring 5–8 years in high-volume chemical plants, strong Lean and project-management skills, and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years in a high-volume chemical manufacturing or similar facility.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing systems/projects.
  • Documented experience in complex industrial/mechanical project management.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience installing or retro-fitting digesters, filter presses, centrifuges, or fluidized bed dryer operations.
  • Bulk chemical storage/transport experience.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and with architects/contractors on start-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to meet objectives for Safety, Quality, Volume, Cleanliness and Financial goals.
  • Responsible for safety and product quality at Greendale bulk salt production facility.
  • Establish Standard Process and SOPs for training, cost-effectiveness and smooth operations.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Customer Service to prioritize customer needs.
  • Develop production schedules to meet production, customer and emergency needs.
  • Ensure site meets Regulatory Agency requirements; coordinate with Quality, Maintenance and Engineering.
  • Develop and execute capital and maintenance projects.
  • Work with contractors to design and install process controls for Epsom Salt processes.
  • Set capital expenditure and maintenance targets.
  • Establish financial reporting targets with VP Manufacturing, Finance and Operations Manager.
  • Hire, screen and manage site employees and handle basic HR functions.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and foster a healthy team culture.

Job description

  • Develop strategies to meet and maintain goals/objectives for the site including Safety, Quality, Volume, Cleanliness and Financial and establish goals for your subordinates.
  • Responsible for safety and product quality at Greendale bulk salt production facility.
  • Establish Standard Process including Operating Procedures so that new employees can be trained efficiently, the process runs effectively and the most cost-effective way.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain and Customer Service Groups to determine and prioritize customer needs.
  • Develop schedules to meet production needs, customer needs, and customer emergency needs.
  • Make sure that the Greendale site meets all the Regulatory Agency’s requirements. Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to obtain support as needed.
  • Develop and execute capital and maintenance projects
  • Working with contractors and subcontractors to design, engineer, install and establish process controls of Epsom Salt processes
  • Establish goals for Capital Expenditure and Maintenance needs.
  • Establish financial reporting targets, with VP Manufacturing, Finance Team and Operations Manager
  • Responsible for the hiring, screening and management of site employees and basic Human Resources functions associated with Greendale facility.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and employee feedback to promote healthy work team culture and retention of good employees.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Training
  • Ability to independently lead an organization to successfully implement strategies for the facility.
  • Minimum five to eight years’ experience in a high-volume chemical manufacturing or similar facility required
  • Prior experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing systems/projects
  • Documented and proven experience in complex industrial/mechanical project management
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and report writing skills
  • Excellent technical, conceptual, and financial computation skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Proven experience in installation or retro-fitting of digesters, filter presses, centrifuges and/or fluidized bed dryer operation valued
  • Previous bulk chemical storage/transport experience needed.
  • Previous experience working with regulatory agencies
  • Previous experience working with architects, contractors, sub-contractors and management of start-up operations.
