Job description

The Plant Manager manages, directs and coordinates overall plant operations, ensuring that safety, continuous improvement, quality, cost, customer service, and production objectives are met or exceeded. The role provides coaching and leadership across the organization, focusing on safety, productivity, quality, cost, equipment reliability, and employee engagement.

Location: Grand Forks, ND | Employment Type: Full time | Job Type: Production Operations | Primary schedule: 1st shift, Monday‑Friday with 24/7 operations.

Annual salary range: $136,000 – $238,000, with additional bonus potential.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety policies and protocols and promote a safety culture.
  • Lead the development, execution and monitoring of the operations strategy in line with overall operational objectives to achieve performance, quality, and safety improvement.
  • Assist in the development of operational and capital budgets, policies and procedures, and oversee execution of the same.
  • Utilize operational data—including OEE, line speed targets, and process efficiencies—to continuously improve productivity, uptime and reliability.
  • Continuously coach, direct and train employees utilizing Lean principles.
  • Monitor employees’ work performance and attitude and conduct formal reviews as required.
  • Coach and counsel employees on work‑related issues and help them correct skill deficiencies.
  • Ensure all plant personnel comply with plant and corporate procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the continuous improvement program to deliver opportunities in cost, quality, food safety and service.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities with other functions and suppliers to optimize production and use of resources.
  • Conduct regular meetings with plant personnel to communicate and address operational issues promptly.
  • Drive employee engagement, training and development to maximize safety, quality and productivity.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of progressively expanding manufacturing experience, including a senior plant leadership role in food production, processing or packaging.
  • Strong background in Lean and Continuous Improvement.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding performance targets and goals.
  • Results‑driven and eager to grow in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Work is performed at various plant locations, involving exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, wetness, heights, dust, moving equipment, vibrations and vapors. Employees must be able to lift up to 50lb and frequently perform reaching, bending, crawling, standing, repetitive motion, and work at heights. An information protective equipment such as safety glasses, slip‑resistant shoes and hearing protection is required. Employees must attend safety and GMP training, serve on the facility safety committee if requested, and participate in hazard analysis and resolution. Travel to other sites may be required.
