Job summary

Qualifications

• 3–5 years as plant manager or assistant plant manager.
• Experience with production planning and scheduling.
• Basic knowledge of meat cuts and terminology.
• Hands-on supervision of daily production.
• Attention to detail and compliance recordkeeping.
• Meat processing equipment operation familiarity.
• MS Word, Excel, Outlook proficiency.
• HACCP certification preferred or willing to obtain in 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily checklist to ensure best practices.
• Hire, manage, and develop meat shop team.
• Review orders and maintain inventory of fresh/frozen meats.
• Coordinate packaging and labeling; monitor inventory dates.
• Develop and maintain standards for meat cuts with specs and images.
• Communicate with internal teams, customers, and inspectors (FDA, USDA).
• Ensure USDA, FDA, and HACCP requirements are met and keep equipment in good condition.
• Manage meat shop production, quality assurance, and P&L responsibilities.
• Address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Support sales efforts including outside reps and on-site retail.

Plant Manager Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 to 5 years as a plant manager or assistant plant manager
• Strong organizational and project management skills with production and planning experience
• Basic knowledge of meat cuts and terminology
• Hands-on experience overseeing day-to-day production activities
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate compliance records
• Working knowledge of meat processing equipment operation
• Excellent computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
• HACCP certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 90 days

Plant Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a daily checklist to ensure best practices are followed
• Hire, manage, and develop the meat shop team while fostering a collaborative environment
• Review customer orders and maintain adequate inventory of fresh and frozen meats
• Coordinate packaging and labeling supplies and monitor inventory dates in the warehouse
• Develop and maintain standards for meat cuts with clear specifications and images for uniformity
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, key customers, and regulatory inspectors (FDA, USDA)
• Ensure all USDA, FDA, and HACCP requirements are met and maintain equipment in good working condition
• Manage meat shop production, quality assurance, and P&L responsibilities
• Address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions
• Support sales efforts including both outside representatives and on-site retail sales
