Job description

Job Overview:

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for leading daily activities and oversite at two facilities. The primary production facility is in Theodore, AL. It includes an air separation unit (ASU), a hydrogen station, and a pipeline complex. The second facility is an ASU located in Axis, AL. The candidate will report directly to the South Alabama Area Director.

The primary role of the Facilities Manager will be to direct and monitor all aspects of the business at each location. Under the direction of the South Alabama Director, the candidate will have responsibility for interfacing with the national operations and distribution organization to insure the efficient and effective use of the operations facilities.

This is a front-line operations role. Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is required. The position will require some travel between sites.

Primary Duties:

  • Safe and profitable operation of the facility.
  • Manages and achieves plant fixed and variable cost goals, to meet financial targets.
  • Delivers defined value in annual productivity savings and places a heavy emphasis on discovering productivity.
  • Manages power at facilities to meet contract and to minimize energy costs.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements which include but are not limited to: OSHA PSM/RMP, DOT, FDA, HPFBI, PADEP, EPA etc. Adheres to all internal company policies, programs, and standards.
  • Maintains relationships with suppliers and customers and meets contractual obligations.
  • Long term planning for retention, recruitment, training, and professional development of employees
  • Develop, plan, and execute short, and long-term maintenance strategies to ensure reliable, cost-effective operations.
  • Manage the sites portfolio of capital and expense projects.
  • Proactively engages support teams for projects or technical assistance.
  • Places high value on team building and effective communications across the organization.
  • Reacts with a sense of urgency to plant issues, garnering the required resources to minimize impact to customers and the business.
  • Communicates effectively with logistics to ensure reliable and efficient deliveries to customers.
  • Engages with community and professional organizations.
  • Ensures that all safety, environmental, and production are met to ensure the site can meet all external and internal requirements.
  • May be tasked with taking on special projects that reach beyond the facility that are crucial to the region.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 5+ years Management experience.
  • Places high value on integrity as well as building and maintaining a winning culture.
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and making informed decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead and quickly adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communications skills, and a strong will to build and maintain productive relationships across departmental lines.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to drive execution of projects as well as strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Experience in an Air Separation Plant process preferred.
