Job summary

The City of Olathe seeks a Plant Maintenance Technician to support drinking water production, wastewater treatment and the Environmental Lab. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves and related equipment, using a variety of tools and recording work in maintenance logs.

Safety and regulatory compliance are essential. Entry-level to mid-career candidates with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical maintenance experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• One year or more of experience in a related field such as HVAC technician, plumber, electrician, or mechanical maintenance is preferred.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Specialized courses in a related field are preferred.
• A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required. A Class I Plant Maintenance Technologist certification is required within 24 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, actuators and related equipment in drinking water production and wastewater treatment.
• Operates a wide range of tools, machinery, and testing devices to troubleshoot and repair systems.
• Collaborates with operations to identify improvements and maintains maintenance logs using Cartegraph asset management software.
• Procures supplies and parts when necessary and escorts contractors on site as needed.
• Performs on-call duties and participates in overtime when required.
