Job summary

SimsMetalm is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the Maintenance Department, supervise staff, and ensure the facility and equipment run safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will coordinate maintenance activities, participate in safety discussions, and support cost control and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires leadership, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years’ preferred experience in maintenance or a related role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities of Maintenance Department employees.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, lubrication, and outside analyses on plant equipment; manage spare parts inventory.
• Perform routine electrical/mechanical maintenance tasks (replace fuses, motors, gear boxes, pumps, conveyors).
• Schedule and conduct safety conversations and shift meetings; train staff on new procedures.
• Support SHECS policies and cost adherence; assist with SOPs and Safe Work Procedures.
• Communicate inventory levels to minimize downtime; schedule PM to avoid production interference.
