Utilities and Energy Management (UEM) provides reliable and cost-effective electricity, chilled water, steam, deionized water, compressed air, emergency power, and elevator services for The University of Texas at Austin.

Job Description:

  • Attends job-related training and informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies.
  • Installs or repairs refrigerant, electrical, and water supply lines; conserves, installs, and recycles CFC and HCFC refrigerants.
  • Maintains accurate reports of maintenance work completed and interprets equipment and system drawings.
  • Operates cranes, forklifts, and personnel lifts; inspects and maintains equipment and work areas.
  • Performs detailed inspections of electrical centrifugal chillers and analyzes historical data.
  • Performs troubleshooting, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on chilling station equipment.
  • Follows all University and UEM safety policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Five years of experience in journey-level repair and maintenance of electrical, industrial, mechanical, or utility distribution equipment.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting gas and steam turbines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than five years of journey-level experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to train subordinate maintenance personnel.
  • Journey-level experience in industrial insulation and welding certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment.

Driving Required: A class "C" operator's driver's license is required.

Salary Range: $75,000

Working Conditions:

  • May work in all weather conditions and around chemical fumes.
  • May be required to work extended shifts including nights/weekends/holidays.
