This position focuses on maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants, dams, and lift stations. You will perform a range of paraprofessional work from routine to specialized corrective and preventative maintenance at treatment facilities, dams, and pump/lift stations.
Responsibilities include receiving work orders, stocking vehicles, performing mechanical maintenance (repairs, rebuilds of pumps, motors, gearboxes), fabricating parts, repairing clarifiers, grit collectors, scum troughs, belt presses, GBTs, testing or rebuilding equipment, cleaning work areas, and using welding, rigging, millwrighting, and various tools. You may also order parts, communicate with technical reps, and work with OEMs.
Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, two years of related experience or completion of DWM's training program, a valid NC driver’s license (or willingness to obtain within 60 days), and willingness to obtain a CDL-B license with Tanker Endorsement within one year. AWWA Maintenance Technologist I certification must be obtained within two years of hire.
Preferred certifications include NC Grade 1 Wastewater Collections, Welding, OSHA Confined Space, Forklift, and experience with CMMS programs. Skills in welding (stick, TIG, MIG), torch use, and machine shop work are also desirable.
