PLANT MAINTENANCE MANAGER (Food Manufacturing)

Dessert Holdings is seeking a Plant Maintenance Manager at our Newburyport, MA facility to lead maintenance practices across the plant, ensuring equipment reliability, maintainability, and resource availability, with a specific focus on reducing deterioration losses. We prioritize safety—people safety and food safety—and seek a confident leader with strong technical and communication skills who can engage and build relationships across teams, coaching and empowering team members to take ownership of loss reduction initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure overall equipment reliability and availability, managing maintenance labor and expenses within the plant.
2. Lead the execution of capital projects and oversee small infrastructure initiatives.
3. Identify, develop, and retain talent to ensure a strong, capable team with opportunities for growth.
4. Manage the Maintenance Department SWP Board, coaching on KPIs at all workforce levels.
5. Establish standards for breakdown elimination, planning & scheduling, lubrication, predictive maintenance, information systems, and inventory management.
6. Collaborate with plant leadership to improve equipment through preventive and predictive maintenance, focusing on reducing specific losses related to equipment deterioration.
7. Support autonomous maintenance practices, including safety mapping, defect handling, and planned stops to minimize unplanned downtime.
8. Use data analysis to identify key losses and prioritize resource allocation effectively.
9. Support plant projects to meet productivity goals.
10. Work with Engineering to ensure RAMS deliverables are completed and support project objectives.
11. Partner with Quality to ensure compliance with FSQI, HACCP, GMP, and CAPA standards, delivering high-quality, safe products.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
2. 5+ years experience with CMMS systems.
3. 7+ years of technical leadership in manufacturing, managing teams of 3-8 members.
4. Experience implementing TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, and Preventive Maintenance programs.
5. Knowledge of USDA, SQF, BRC, GMP, and HACCP standards, sanitation, and safety programs.
6. Proven success leading continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Ability to influence plant leadership and foster a culture of safety, quality, and reliability.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. CMRP Certification.
2. 5+ years in food/bakery manufacturing.
3. Black/Green Belt in Six Sigma or similar tools.
4. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
