Job Summary

The Manager, Operations and Maintenance will lead all aspects of onsite operations, maintenance, and field services for Fullmark Energy’s utility-scale battery energy storage projects. This role bridges day-to-day asset operations with long-term reliability planning. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise in BESS, a proactive problem-solving mindset, and the ability to coordinate with OEMs, integrators, Operations & Maintenance providers, and internal teams.

This position reports to the VP of Asset Management.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in electrical or energy infrastructure maintenance; 2+ years in BESS .
  • Proven track record leading technical teams or contractors in field service or utility operations.
  • Deep understanding of battery storage system components, degradation modes, and testing methods.
  • Familiarity with site testing procedures, safety audits, and environmental compliance.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience using tools to monitor round-trip efficiency, battery health, and dispatch trends.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including to remote or site locations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to present complex technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, TEAMS, and asset performance management software, & work management software.
  • OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage onsite operations for operating battery energy storage facilities, ensuring uptime, safety, and performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve BESS, EMS, communication, and balance-of-plant issues in coordination with vendors and contractors.
  • Oversee third-party O&M providers, OEMs, and testing contractors to ensure high-quality, responsive support.
  • Monitor system KPIs, degradation trends, and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate warranty claim resolution and maintenance task orders with vendors.
  • Develop and implement battery-specific O&M procedures and safety protocols.
  • Own site-level compliance with OSHA, NERC, NFPA 855, and other applicable standards.
  • Lead inventory planning and spare parts tracking, including coordination of repairs and replacements.
  • Provide technical support during outages, emergency response, and corrective maintenance events.
  • Develop field service capability, including potential internal preventative and corrective maintenance resources.
  • Lead safety oversight and training for all third-party personnel working on Fullmark Energy assets.
  • Maintain detailed internal reporting and documentation on facility performance, vendor actions, and operating conditions.
  • Support internal recruiting and mentorship for technical field staff.
  • Travel to project sites as needed for troubleshooting, commissioning, inspections, and vendor oversight.

Work Conditions

The Manager, Operations and Maintenance role is a remote position with up to 50% of travel required. The ideal candidate would be located in southern California with close proximity to company sites.

The position involved regular visits to company sites to oversee operations and maintenance activities. Candidates must be comfortable working in and around active power plant environments.
