Job summary
Clariant seeks a Maintenance Superintendent – South Plant in Louisville, KY to lead a unionized maintenance team and ensure safe, reliable execution of preventive, reactive, and minor project work on-site. The role reports to the South Plant Maintenance Manager and oversees approximately 11 technicians with a focus on uptime and compliance.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary trade school or technical college education strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years in industrial maintenance or a related area, including leading or managing maintenance employees; union environment experience strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with broad maintenance knowledge; hands-on troubleshooting capability.
- CMMS proficiency; SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) experience preferred; Kronos, Microsoft Office, project management, and Lean Six Sigma / 5S preferred.
- Results-oriented and decisive leader with strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills; able to manage competing priorities and respond after-hours when required.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of maintenance technicians in safe, efficient completion of preventive, reactive, shutdown, and minor project maintenance work.
- Assign and prioritize work orders based on operational needs and schedules; balance reliability, cost, resources, and adherence to schedule.
- Review work requests, conduct field walk-downs, coordinate materials and contractors, audit methods, and provide technical guidance.
- Monitor workloads, minimize overtime, approve timecards, and maintain maintenance reports and records.
- Monitor maintenance costs and support adherence to the site budget while allocating internal and external resources.
- Drive maintenance effectiveness through continuous improvement and coordination with Production to minimize delays related to permits and equipment.
- Champion safe work practices and ensure compliance with ESHA, site safety, environmental standards, MOC processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide hands-on maintenance support, planning and scheduling assistance, and leadership coverage during complex maintenance situations.
