Job summary

Clariant Corporation in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to lead maintenance operations for the Louisville West Plant site. This role supervises technicians and contractors and drives reliability and safety in a 24/7 production environment.

You will foster continuous improvement, manage maintenance budgets, and coordinate with Production to minimize delays while ensuring compliance with ESHA standards and a zero-injury culture.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance technicians in executing preventive, reactive, and project work orders while ensuring safe and efficient execution.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders to optimize schedule adherence, cost control, and equipment reliability.
  • Review work requests, conduct field walkdowns, coordinate materials, and manage contractor activities with attention to detail and urgency.
  • Provide hands-on coaching, technical guidance, and troubleshooting support to technicians of varying skill levels.
  • Support maintenance execution during shutdowns, outages, and unplanned events, adapting to changing needs.
  • Monitor and control maintenance budgets, labor utilization, and overtime while maintaining operational effectiveness.
  • Approve timecards and ensure accurate maintenance records and CMMS documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S) to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Coordinate with Production to minimize delays related to permits and equipment availability.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and ESHA standards and promote zero-injury culture.

Clariant is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to lead maintenance operations for the Louisville West Plant site. This role is responsible for supervising maintenance technicians and contractors in the execution of preventative, reactive, and project maintenance activities while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The Maintenance Superintendent plays a critical role in driving equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, workforce development, and continuous improvement in a 24/7 production environment. Success in this role requires strong leadership, sound decision‑making, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues while balancing reactive and preventative maintenance priorities. This individual will foster a high-performing maintenance culture focused on safety excellence, operational reliability, accountability, and continuous improvement.   • * Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and ESHA standards while actively promoting a zero-injury culture
Requirements
  • * High School Diploma or GED required; technical or trade school education preferred
  • * 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams
  • * Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting skills and the ability to support complex maintenance situations when needed
  • * Experience with CMMS systems (SAP PM preferred), continuous improvement practices, and strong communication and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments
