Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites applicants for the Plant Maintenance Engineer Helper position in Golden Valley. The role supports HVAC, plumbing, electrical and related systems, assisting skilled trades and maintenance staff to keep facilities safe and functional.

Daily duties include building and grounds upkeep, equipment servicing, and coordination with contractors as needed. A valid Class D license is required, with on-call readiness and a Monday–Friday day shift.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining heating, plumbing, ventilation and electrical systems.
• Skill in the use of hand tools of the trade sufficient to make adjustments and simple repairs to equipment and assist in the making of major repairs and alterations.
• Experience with building and grounds maintenance and construction practices.
• Valid Class D Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist MnDOT Metro District Golden Valley Plant Maintenance Engineer in HVAC system operation, maintenance and repair.
• Assist in building construction maintenance, repair, and grounds maintenance.
• Assist plumber and electrician as needed to ensure safe and efficient service.
• Be immediately reachable by phone and report to work within one hour of being called.
