Job summary

Xcel Energy in Hobbs, NM is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice (1st Year) to troubleshoot, construct and maintain plant equipment such as turbines, boilers, and pumps. The program combines hands-on training with classroom instruction and on-the-job learning.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be able to pass the MASS test, and be willing to travel to other sites. Safety gear and PPE must be worn at all times, and lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass Edison Electric Institute MASS test.
• Must respond to overtime and call outs.
• Commit to safety rules including PPE.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be respirator qualified (PFT).
• Must take Baseline Audiogram.
• Welding experience and/or certification preferred.
• Troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Minimum of one-year industrial maintenance experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, construct and maintain plant equipment (turbines, boilers, pumps, etc.).
• Participate in hands-on training and required classroom/online training.
• Travel to other locations as needed.
