Lindy Paving is looking for a Plant Laborer to join its operations team at its 2nd Avenue and Neville Island asphalt plants in Pittsburgh.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assist in the production of asphalt in a plant environment.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. Handle construction aggregates and materials (sand, gravel, etc.).
2. Work with hands and power tools operated by gasoline, electricity, and compressed air.
3. Operate mobile equipment as required such as sweeper, forklift, bobcat, yard truck, water truck, etc.
4. Assist with preventative maintenance and scheduled or breakdown repairs on plant, equipment, and vehicles. Welding skills required.
5. Clean up all plant areas using tools such as shovels, brooms, etc.
6. Perform other duties in the plant as needed.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least two (2) years of plant production experience with construction aggregates (sand and gravel) or equivalent.
• Welding skills required.
• Reasonable communication skills; ability to read signs, signals, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Willingness to join the union local and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Physical requirements include: Correctable vision with good night vision, ability to lift and carry 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally, 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and 10 to 20 lbs. constantly. Manual dexterity and ability to bend, twist, turn, stretch, squat, kneel, sit, and stand for extended periods. Ability to work in elevated, enclosed, and sometimes hazardous areas in changing weather conditions.
