Job summary

HireArt is seeking a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems in Hayward, CA to ensure quality and build readiness for autonomous vehicles during manufacturing. The full-time, on-site position offers an $80.50/hour rate with a 40-hour work week.

You will lead triage, containment, and root-cause investigations across design, manufacturing, and supplier teams while driving DFx improvements and permanent corrective actions for body/closure systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 6+ years in automotive OEMs, robotics, or complex hardware manufacturing
• Proven experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving in fast-paced settings

Responsibilities

• Lead triage, containment, and resolution of issues across doors, latches, actuators, sealing systems, and body structures.
• Define and execute short-term containment actions including rework plans and quarantines.
• Lead cross-functional RCA across design, manufacturing, process, and supplier teams to drive DFM improvements.
• Partner with teams to implement permanent corrective actions (PCAs) and prevent recurrence.
• Support prototype builds, production trials, and engineering changes to validate and improve manufacturability.
• Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards to track issue health and closure rates.

Overview

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and build readiness of autonomous vehicles during manufacturing. This is a full-time, in-person role located in Hayward, CA, United States.

Schedule: 40 hours per week. Expected pay: 80.50 USD per hour.

Responsibilities

• Lead the triage, containment, and resolution of issues identified during general assembly and end-of-line testing across door systems, latches, actuators, sealing systems, access panels, glazing, and body structures.
• Define and execute short-term containment actions, including rework plans, part quarantines, and build flow protection.
• Lead cross-functional root cause investigations across design, manufacturing, process, and supplier teams while driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement permanent corrective actions (PCAs) and prevent issue recurrence.
• Support prototype builds, production trials, and engineering changes to validate corrective actions and improve manufacturability.
• Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards, and reporting to track issue health, closure rates, recurrence trends, and PIRT performance.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline
• 6+ years of experience within automotive OEMs, robotics, aviation, or other complex hardware manufacturing environments supporting manufacturing, product engineering, or sustaining engineering
• Strong understanding of vehicle body and closure systems, including doors, latches, actuators, sealing systems, access panels, glazing, and body structures
• Proven experience leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions within production, manufacturing, or field environments, including new product launches
• Strong cross-functional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), production process optimization, Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or electric vehicle (EV) systems
• Familiarity with tools such as 3DX (Dassault), DELMIA, SAP ME/MII, Jira, Confluence, SQL, Python, or data visualization platforms
