Responsibilities

• Lead investigation, containment, and resolution of manufacturing issues affecting body and closure systems.

• Lead cross-functional root-cause investigations with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and operations.
• Partner with teams to implement permanent corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
• Support prototypes, production trials, engineering changes, and validation activities.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Develop dashboards and reporting to monitor issue status and overall manufacturing performance.

Position Overview

We are supporting an on‑demand autonomous ride‑hailing company in hiring a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer to support manufacturing quality and vehicle build readiness for autonomous vehicles. The role serves as a bridge between engineering and manufacturing, leading the investigation, containment, and resolution of production issues identified during general assembly and end‑of‑line testing. The successful candidate will drive root‑cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and improve manufacturing processes to support quality, production efficiency, and vehicle readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the investigation, containment, and resolution of manufacturing issues affecting body and closure systems, including doors, latches, actuators, sealing systems, access panels, glazing, and body structures.
• Develop and execute containment plans, including rework activities, part quarantines, and production flow protection.
• Lead cross‑functional root‑cause investigations involving engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and operations.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement permanent corrective actions and prevent recurring issues.
• Support prototype builds, production trials, engineering changes, and validation activities to improve manufacturability.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing improvements to enhance product quality and production efficiency.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, metrics, and reporting to monitor issue status, closure rates, recurring defects, and overall manufacturing performance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 6–8 years of experience supporting automotive OEMs, robotics, aviation, or other complex hardware manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of body and closure systems, including doors, latches, actuators, sealing systems, glazing, access panels, and vehicle body structures.
• Proven experience leading root‑cause analysis and corrective actions in manufacturing, production, sustaining engineering, or new product launch environments.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Design for Manufacturing principles.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience in autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, robotics, or advanced automotive manufacturing.
• Experience using 3DX, DELMIA, SAP ME, SAP MII, Jira, Confluence, SQL, Python, or data visualization tools.
