Job summary

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems to ensure quality and build readiness of autonomous vehicles during manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will lead rapid containment and root-cause analysis across design, process, supplier, and manufacturing domains, driving durable corrective actions while supporting prototypes and production trials. Onsite in Hayward, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field.
• 6+ years in manufacturing or sustaining environments within automotive OEMs, robotics, aviation, or similar hardware systems.
• Strong understanding of body and closure systems including doors and seals.
• Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead triage, containment, and resolution of issues in general assembly and end-of-line testing across body systems.
• Define short-term containment actions, rework plans, and part quarantine.
• Collaborate across design, process, supplier, and manufacturing to drive DFM improvements.
• Support permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve manufacturability.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, and reporting to track issue health and closure rates.

Expected compensation: 80.50 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and build readiness of autonomous vehicles during manufacturing.

In this role, you’ll operate at the intersection of engineering and production, driving rapid containment and resolution of issues identified during general assembly and end-of-line validation.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in body and closure systems, a sense of urgency in execution, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams through root cause analysis and durable corrective actions.

As a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems, you'll:

• Lead the triage, containment, and resolution of issues identified during general assembly and end-of-line testing across door systems, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures.
• Define and execute short-term containment actions, including rework plans, part quarantine, and build flow protection.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to lead root cause analysis across design, process, supplier, and manufacturing domains, identify and prioritize blockers, and drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
• Support cross-functional teams in implementing permanent corrective actions (PCA) to prevent recurrence.
• Support prototype builds, production trials, and engineering changes to validate fixes and improve manufacturability.
• Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards, and reporting to track issue health, closure rates, and recurrence while improving PIRT processes, including issue tracking, prioritization, and cross-functional execution.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field
• 6+ years of experience in manufacturing, product engineering, or sustaining environments within automotive OEMs, robotics, aviation, or other complex hardware systems
• Strong understanding of vehicle body and closure systems, including doors, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures
• Proven experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions in production, manufacturing, or field environments, including new product launch support
• Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), production process optimization, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or EV systems
• Familiarity with tools such as 3DX (Dassault), DELMIA, SAP ME/MII, Jira, Confluence, SQL, Python, or data visualization tools
