Job summary

HireArt is assisting a client by recruiting a hands-on Robot Service Technician in San Luis Obispo, CA. The role covers assembly, maintenance, and field service for self-driving delivery robots, with travel to local sites as needed.

Ideal candidates bring experience in automotive/manufacturing environments, a proactive approach, and strong problem-solving skills to handle diverse technical tasks including electrical/mechanical work and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical and electrical tools and measurement equipment.
• Ability to read 2D mechanical drawings.
• Experience installing custom electronic modules.
• Comfortable working in field environments and able to lift 50+ lbs.
• Valid driver’s license with clean MVR in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the robot fleet.
• Travel locally to provide onsite field support.
• Assist in R&D experiments and support new projects.

Job description

Expected compensation: 25.00 - 28.00 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping our client hire a hands‑on, versatile Robot Service Technician to support the production, maintenance, and repair of self‑driving delivery robots. This role involves a variety of tasks, including mechanical and electrical assembly, troubleshooting, and fieldwork.

The ideal candidates will have experience in automotive or manufacturing environments, a proactive mindset, and the ability to handle diverse responsibilities.

Production And Assembly

• Assemble harnesses, cables, and connectors for self‑driving delivery robots.

Maintenance And Repairs

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the robot fleet.
• Diagnose breakdowns, investigate incidents, and execute service campaigns.
• Test and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, including suspensions and batteries.

Field Support

• Travel between local locations to provide onsite support when needed.
• Handle rapid prototyping, testing, and inventory management.

Research And Development Support

• Assist in R&D experiments, contributing to the development of new projects.

Requirements

• Experience with mechanical and electrical tools, including measuring equipment
• Experience assembling and disassembling electrical components
• Ability to read and interpret 2D mechanical drawings
• Experience installing custom electronic modules
• Comfortable working with AC/DC currents
• Valid driver’s license (clean MVR for the last 12 months; no CDL required)
• Comfortable working in field environments
• Ability to lift and move items over 50 pounds
• Strong attention to detail and a structured, logical approach to problem‑solving
• Team-oriented with strong communication and collaboration skills
• Creative and adaptable mindset to tackle diverse technical challenges
• Automotive retrofitting experience is a huge plus!

Preferred Experience

• Background in electric vehicle (EV) service, automotive plants, dealership service, or similar environment
• General computer literacy
• Soldering and crimping experience
