Job summary

International Paper in Buffalo, NY seeks a Plant General Manager to lead the facility with full P&L responsibility and drive safety, cost control, and production efficiency.

The role requires 7–10 years in corrugated operations, a BS degree, and demonstrated leadership across manufacturing, sales, and finance. IP offers performance-driven compensation and participation in incentive plans.

Qualifications

  • Seven to ten years corrugated experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Proven ability to build and lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for profit and loss of the facility.
  • Environmental, health and safety compliance with company policy and laws.
  • Manufacturing management including throughput, cost, waste control, maintenance, quality, inventories and budget metrics.
  • Sales responsibilities including local sales, customer service, and pricing strategy deployment.
  • Lead strategic planning processes including business, marketing and capital planning.
  • Support positive labor relations and workforce engagement.
  • Oversee human resources including recruiting, development and labor relations.
  • Manage budgets and financial controls.

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s annual and long-term incentive plans.

The Job You Will Perform
  • Accountable for profit and loss of the facility.
  • Environmental, health and safety, including company policy and laws, state and federal regulations.
  • Manufacturing, including throughput, cost and waste control, maintenance, quality, inventories control and meeting budgeted production metrics.
  • Sales, including local sales, customer service, and partnering with sales manager to establish and meet facility sales goals, identifying and targeting market segments, deploying division pricing strategy.
  • Strategic planning, including business, marketing and capital planning processes.
  • Helping to maintain and support positive labor relations
  • Human resources, including workforce engagement, diversity, recruiting and hiring, employee and leadership development and employee labor relations.
  • Financial management, including establishing and managing budgets and compliance with financial controls.
