Job summary

International Paper is seeking a Maintenance Manager in Richmond, VA to lead a 24/7 maintenance team and coordinate critical plant operations. The role emphasizes data-driven decision-making, preventive maintenance, and safety leadership.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of maintenance and leadership experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • College and/or related technical courses preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in the corrugated box industry with electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics and electricity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supervises employees in maintenance coordination, execution and planning, including a 24/7 team.
  • Report to Site Manager any impediments to plant operation with technical input.
  • Initiate and maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program and pursue quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to achieve results.
  • Manage machine reliability initiatives and maintain spare parts inventories.
  • Troubleshoot problems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Identify safety issues and address them proactively.
  • Plan, schedule and monitor completion of maintenance work orders.
  • Maintain positive relationships with management and hourly staff.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and effective communication.
  • Participate in safety and environmental audits on various cadences.

$101,000 – $134,600 (USCORE)

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s annual incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform
  • Actively supervises employees in the everyday coordination, execution and planning of maintenance efforts, including a 24/7 maintenance team.
  • Report to Site Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known, while providing technical expertise regarding plant equipment and facilities.
  • Initiate and/or maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program and Implement quality improvement and cost reduction ideas.
  • Contact and work with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results.
  • Manage machine reliability initiatives
  • Maintains adequate inventories of spare parts and Purchase materials, parts, and supplies as required.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Make data driven decisions
  • Identify areas where safety issues could arise and take measures to proactively address the concerns.
  • Plans, schedules and monitors the timely completion of maintenance work orders.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the plant management, supervisory staff and hourly employees.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Continually communicate in a positive manner.
  • Participate in weekly, monthly, semiannual and annual safety and environmental audits.
