Job summary

INEOS Styrolution is seeking a Plant Engineer in Decatur, Alabama. This role provides day-to-day mechanical engineering support to Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Capital Projects, driving safety, reliability, and cost efficiency across plant assets.

You will lead capital projects, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and oversee turnaround planning while ensuring compliance with ASME, API, ASTM, and NFPA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of engineering, project, maintenance, reliability, or chemical manufacturing experience.
• Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, polymer, or other process manufacturing environments preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, piping systems, plant facilities, and industrial construction.
• Working knowledge of Process Safety Management principles.

Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with life-saving rules and standards.
• Lead capital and maintenance projects from concept through startup and closeout.
• Provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support to Operations and Maintenance teams.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, lead root cause investigations, and drive reliability improvements.
• Develop turnaround scopes and coordinate engineering, inspection, and field execution.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with contractors and vendors.
