Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Sylacauga, Alabama to drive plant improvements and optimize production performance. You will lead projects, analyze costs and risks, and ensure equipment and processes meet contract specifications.

The role requires hands-on experience in manufacturing, proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and a strong foundation in SPC and Lean Six Sigma. Travel is local with occasional training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degreed preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of SPC and practical implementation.
  • Six Sigma/Lean experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing project improvements to boost manufacturing performance.
  • Obtain project quotes, guide contractor selection and oversee timely completion.
  • Provide cost, risk and return analyses for approvals.
  • Test and commission new machines to meet specs.
  • Plan plant operation improvements: reduce costs, conserve energy, optimise equipment.
  • Provide engineering oversight of facility infrastructure (HVAC, boilers, utilities).

WHEN YOU JOIN US YOU WILL BE;
  • Implementing project improvements that drive manufacturing performance in speed, waste reduction, cost reduction and quality.
  • Obtaining project quotes, recommends contractor awards and directs contractor in the timely and accurate project completion.
  • Providing cost, risk and return analysis as required for project approval.
  • Testing/Commissioning newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.
  • Developing and executes plans to address all facets of plant operation including cost reduction, equipment installation, optimizing utilities and energy consumption and other items to keep the plant running smoothly and generate measurable benefits to the plant operation.
  • Providing engineering oversight to the facility infrastructure (boilers, HVAC, compressed air, power transmission etc.).
  • Planning, directing and coordinating activities concerned with design, construction, modification and maintenance of equipment and machinery in an industrial plant.
  • Troubleshooting equipment operating issues and recommending short-term and longer-term resolutions.
  • Defining and resolving process problems through individual and team-based continuous improvement activities and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved in order to develop and implement process improvement.
  • Working closely with the operators and staff who oversee quality control of raw materials, finished products, plant maintenance, product specifications and production schedules.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degreed preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing.
  • Multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering and an ability to innovate using practical, economical solutions and/or strategies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of AutoCad and Solidworks.
  • Technical skill categories focusing on, e.g., piping, pressure vessels and machinery.
  • Sound knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and its practical implementation.
  • Experience in making data-driven decisions and utilization of statistics to solve problems and monitor processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Lean Six Sigma skills and experience preferred.
WORK AUTHORIZATIONS AND TRAVEL;
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Some specific training may require international travel.
  • This position requires the legal ability to work in the United States
