JOB TITLE: Plant Engineer DATE: 8/12/2026

REPORTS TO:Director of Maintenance STATUS:Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for operational excellence projects and activities at a complex manufacturing facility; champion projects and provide technical leadership. Will deliver significant process improvement and financial benefit across the complex.

DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages high efficiency manufacturing initiatives throughout 1 st and 2 nd Processing areas, as well as maintenance and other support areas.
  • Lead multiple process improvement initiatives to a quantifiable result in defect reduction, cost avoidance, loss reduction or revenue enhancement.
  • Serve as internal expert on all projects.
  • Recommend and facilitate quality and change management processes to align with strategic needs; identify company needs and key drivers to reach satisfactory expectations with predicted financial benefit.
  • Implements policies and procedures to analyze production workflows and resource utilization to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or waste.
  • Liaises with production, quality assurance, and other support teams on new equipment installs, machine adjustments, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Provide detailed and constructive feedback and reporting to Maintenance Director.
  • Ensure all company safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe working environment by also promoting, adhering to, and holding employees accountable to those policies.
  • Attend leadership training, meetings and other learning and development opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate with HR, departments heads, and other supporting department leaders if conflict or dilemmas arise.
  • All other duties not listed but requested by Senior Leadership.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
  • MUST possess an Engineering degree with a minimum of five years' work experience in a related field.
  • MUST have outstanding project management skills.
  • MUST have proficient business and technical skills in areas of metrics development.
  • MUST possess exceptional business knowledge and customer service skills to connect department owners to business processes.
  • MUST be familiar with manufacturing plant efficiencies, and operational procedures.
  • MUST have thorough knowledge of food safety programs, including HACCP programs, SSOP's and GMP's.
  • MUST possess skills in communicating in a courteous and professional manner, both verbally and in writing to all team members.
  • MUST have exceptional time management and prioritizing skills.
  • MUST know how to effectively utilize a personal computer and a variety of software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and AutoCAD.
  • MUST be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • MUST be able to pass required physical including demonstrating your ability to lift the required weight for each role.
  • Ability to stand or walk for an entire 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to reflect the values of our company in public settings.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in poultry or other food processing plants is highly preferred.
  • Certification in Six Sigma up to black belt is preferred
  • Higher education in leadership, manufacturing, logistics, or a related field is preferred, however experience in lieu of an advanced degree will always be considered.
