Job summary

SAF-HOLLAND is seeking a Plant Cost Accountant to partner with plant operations, analyze costs, manage inventory forecasting, and drive profitability improvements. The role focuses on cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting within a manufacturing setting.

You will collaborate with Operations Leaders, support month-end close, and help implement cost-reduction initiatives across the plant. Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in accounting or related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop monthly and annual forecasts for plant spending, inventory, and absorption.
• Analyze manufacturing variances and PPV.
• Calculate overhead rates, labor efficiencies, and productivity metrics.
• Support month-end close activities and financial reporting.
• Monitor cost-reduction initiatives and report results.
• Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making.
• Review material and labor standards and lead cost roll processes in SAP.
• Evaluate capital investment requests and support make-versus-buy decisions.
• Maintain internal controls and drive process improvements across Finance and Operations.

What You'll Do

• Develop monthly and annual forecasts for plant spending, inventory, and absorption.
• Analyze manufacturing variances and purchase price variances (PPV).
• Calculate overhead rates, labor efficiencies, and productivity metrics.
• Support month-end close activities and financial reporting.
• Monitor and report cost-reduction initiatives.
• Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making.

• Review and maintain accurate material and labor standards.
• Lead cost roll processes and cost development activities in SAP.
• Monitor inventory obsolescence and related reserves.
• Support cycle count programs and inventory accuracy initiatives.
• Manage inventory-related accruals, revaluations, and shrinkage reporting.

?? Strategic & Capital Analysis

• Evaluate capital investment requests and business cases.
• Support make-versus-buy decisions through financial analysis.
• Conduct periodic capital expenditure reviews and audits.

?? Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• Help maintain strong internal controls and safeguard company assets.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements.
• Collaborate across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Leadership teams.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• SAP experience
• Strong manufacturing cost accounting background
