Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller for the AP16 manufacturing plant in North Chicago, IL. This role directs financial, cost accounting, and compliance activities, delivering timely analyses, budgets, and long-range plans while guiding site leadership.

You will drive cost-reduction opportunities, ensure CFMs and GAAP compliance, and supervise a team of three, coordinating with regional sites to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA/MBA preferred.
• 7+ years of finance experience; 3+ years supervisory.
• Excellent problem solving, decision-making abilities and analytical skills.
• Excellent leadership and open, trustful communication at all levels.
• Strategic thinking with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Broad business perspective with focus on financial and non-financial insights.
• Proficiency in Excel, SAP, Power BI, Power Query, and BPC.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all financial activities for AP16, including standard cost development, manufacturing variance analysis, budget development, inventory reconciliations, forecasting and internal controls.
• Coordinate timely preparation of AP16 monthly reports, quarterly schedules, balance sheet reconciliations and year-end information packages.
• Coordinate Plan, Update, Long Range Plan (LRP) and Last Best Estimate (LBE) packages and related documentation.
• Provide financial analysis and scenario planning for functional decision support; identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance with CFMs and GAAP; manage audits and general ledger integrity.
• Lead cost-reduction initiatives and partner with management to improve profitability and efficiency.
• Supervise and develop a team of 3 direct reports; drive regional cost accounting improvements across the Packaging region.
