Job summary

Jobot is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to lead the financial operations of a high-volume manufacturing facility in Upstate New York. You will partner with plant leadership to deliver cost accounting insights, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include month-end close, standard cost development, variance analysis, and financial reporting to support profitability and productivity at the Palmyra site.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• 5+ years in manufacturing finance/accounting.
• Strong cost accounting experience required.
• Experience supporting a plant as Plant Controller or similar.
• Advanced Excel and ERP experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing plant accounting functions including month-end close and financial reporting.
• Develop standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost rollups.
• Analyze variances in labor, overhead, materials, scrap, yield, and efficiency.
• Partner with operations to identify cost reduction and margin improvement opportunities.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans for the facility.
• Present monthly financial reviews to plant and corporate leadership.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the finance leader for the manufacturing facility and a strategic partner to Plant Operations.
• Manage all plant accounting functions, including month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Lead cost accounting activities, including standard cost development, product costing, inventory valuation, and cost rollups.
• Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, overhead, material usage, scrap, yield, and production efficiencies.
• Partner with operations leadership to identify opportunities for cost reduction, margin improvement, and operational efficiencies.
• Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and long‑range financial plans for the facility.
• Monitor plant performance against financial targets and provide actionable recommendations to improve results.
• Ensure accuracy of inventory transactions, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory controls.
• Support capital expenditure planning, financial modeling, and ROI analysis for plant investments.
• Prepare and present monthly financial reviews to plant and corporate leadership.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
• Support audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
• Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, quality, and operations teams to improve plant financial performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong cost accounting experience is required.
• Experience supporting a manufacturing plant as a Plant Controller, Assistant Controller, Cost Accounting Manager, Senior Cost Accountant, or similar role.
• Demonstrated experience with:
  • Standard costing
  • Inventory accounting
  • Variance analysis
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Financial reporting
  • Month‑end close
  • Cost reduction initiatives
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Infor, or similar platforms.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.

Preferred Experience

• Food & Beverage manufacturing or CPG industry experience
• Multi‑plant or multi‑site manufacturing operations
• High‑volume manufacturing environments
• Experience supporting continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or operational excellence initiatives
