Job summary

Kinsa Group in Houston, TX is recruiting a Plant Controller responsible for leading all financial accountability in a growing food manufacturing operation. You will oversee accounting operations, manage outsourcing, develop budgets, and partner on risk management to sustain strong financial performance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance and 3–5 years in rapid-growth manufacturing, with expertise in payroll, AR/AP, financial reporting, and internal controls.

• Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; oversee regulatory reporting, tax planning and compliance, and external audits.
• Improve accounting processes, manage outsourced support services, and recruit, train, develop, and retain a skilled accounting team.

Location: Houston, TX (Onsite, relocation stipend)

A growing food manufacturing company is looking to add a new Plant Controller to their team in Houston, TX.. Responsible for leading on all aspects of financial accountability. Fundamental duties include oversight of routine department operations; management of outsourcing accounting support services; comprehensive budget development and analysis; and strategic, collaborative risk management to ensure the firm's strong financial performance.

• $130-140k base salary plus annual bonus

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

• Lead accounting operations and financial reporting, including the general ledger, data consolidation, and preparation of accurate internal and external financial statements.


• Direct budgeting, financial planning, procurement, investments, and cash and credit management; provide timely analysis, performance metrics, and actionable insights to management.


• Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; overseer regulatory reporting, tax planning and compliance, and external audits.


• Improve accounting processes, manage outsourced support services, and recruit, train, develop, and retain a skilled accounting team.

Competencies Needed for Success:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, plus three to five years of progressive accounting experience in a rapid-growth manufacturing business, including Accounting Manager, Controller, or comparable responsibilities.


• Strong knowledge of accounting operations, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, applicable laws and regulations, and financial reporting and analysis.


• Demonstrated financial project management, organization, prioritization, and communication skills, with the ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines and translate financial information for audiences at all levels.


• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with SAP Business ByDesign and NetSuite preferred.


• Ability to work extended hours, including shifts of up to 10 hours and weekends, when required.
