Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Burns Harbor, IN is seeking a summer Accounting Intern to gain hands-on experience in corporate accounting at a Fortune 500 company. The intern will accumulate, analyze, and report cost information for an operating area, communicating results to management and manufacturing staff to support decision-making.

Responsibilities include preparing and examining accounting records under US GAAP, posting journal entries, and supporting reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field.
• Must have completed at least sophomore year by summer 2027.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to US GAAP.
• Prepare journal entries and perform financial statement reconciliations.
• Recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
• May include project work in Shared Services, inventory management in Plant Accounting, and process improvement work.
• Various other duties to support the business.
