Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Burns Harbor, IN is seeking a summer Accounting Intern to gain hands-on experience in corporate accounting at a Fortune 500 company. The intern will accumulate, analyze, and report cost information for an operating area, communicating results to management and manufacturing staff to support decision-making.

Responsibilities include preparing and examining accounting records under US GAAP, posting journal entries, and supporting reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field.
• Must have completed at least sophomore year by summer 2027.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to US GAAP.
• Prepare journal entries and perform financial statement reconciliations.
• Recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
• May include project work in Shared Services, inventory management in Plant Accounting, and process improvement work.
• Various other duties to support the business.

Cleveland-Cliffs is looking for a summer Accounting Intern at our Burns Harbor location. This internship offers hands-on experience and exposure to corporate accounting at a Fortune 500 company. The Accounting Intern is responsible for accumulating, analyzing, and reporting cost information for an assigned operating area. This information is communicated to management and manufacturing personnel to support decision-making and the efficient, economical use of company resources.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to US GAAP
• Prepare journal entries and perform financial statement reconciliations
• Recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
• May also include project work in the Shared Services area, management of inventories in the Plant Accounting areas, and overall process improvement work
• Various other duties as needed to support the business

Minimum Qualifications
