Job summary

The City of Caldwell Engineering Department is seeking a Plans Examiner I or II to join our team. You will review residential and commercial construction plans for compliance with land development codes and state/local ordinances, and provide excellent customer service to the public and to City staff.

Under the supervision of the City Engineer, you will coordinate plan reviews from permit application through project completion, maintain records, and stay current on codes and regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years minimum plans examiner experience on residential and commercial projects for a public entity.
• Background check and drug test to include prescription medications.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, inspects, and approves commercial construction and plans to ensure codes compliance.
• Coordinates commercial projects from permit application through completion.
• Delivers exceptional customer service to the public and City employees.
• Maintains records of customer service issues and takes corrective measures.
• Assists Engineering Technicians as needed.
• Communicates and coordinates with others to improve interdepartmental operations.
