Job summary

The City of Oregon City is seeking a Plans Examiner in the Building Division to review residential and commercial construction documents for compliance with state and local codes. This role requires an Associate Degree and ICC certifications such as R3 and 79, among others.

You will coordinate reviews, conduct inspections as needed, prepare check sheets, and support the permitting process while staying current with building code trends and changes.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree and ICC certifications.
• Must understand building codes, regulations, and life-safety requirements for one- and two-family dwellings.
• Ability to interpret and apply processes, codes, regulations, and laws governing building and land use.

Responsibilities

• Review permit applications and construction documents for residential and selected commercial projects.
• Evaluate compliance with state building codes and other regulations.
• Coordinate reviews with other agencies and provide written and oral interpretations of codes.
• Prepare check sheets identifying required corrections and necessary information.
• Conduct plan re-reviews and process plans for final approval.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction methods and code changes.
