Under limited supervision, provides technical staff support to planning functions, handles inquiries, reviews permits, and assists with current and long-range planning projects and data presentation.

Qualifications

• One year of planning-related work experience, including some municipal code enforcement.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in planning or related field.
• Disaster Service Worker status may be required during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Respond to public inquiries at the counter, on the telephone and in writing regarding zoning, codes, and permits.
• Perform plan checks for zoning compliance and review permit applications; assess fees and conditions.
• Receive and evaluate variance and related applications; prepare staff reports and resolutions.
• Prepare abatement letters and follow-up communications; assist with current and long-range planning projects.
• Assist in preparing maps and charts; maintain records and prepare reports for planning activities.
