Job summary

Johnston & Murphy is seeking a Planning Analyst to support accurate product data, demand forecasting, purchasing, and inventory decisions. You will manage data flow between systems, maintain item and planning attributes, and develop recurring reporting to enable timely, informed decisions.

The role involves collaboration across Merchandising, Planning, Purchasing, and IT, with opportunities to contribute to monthly forecast meetings and system enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; field preferred includes Supply Chain Management, Analytics, Operations, Finance.
• 0–2 years of planning, inventory management, supply chain, merchandising analytics, master data, or related analyst experience; internships/co-ops welcome.
• Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, data validation, and large data sets.
• Experience with or exposure to Power BI or other BI tools is preferred.
• Ability to learn ERP, PIM, demand-planning, and purchasing systems; Jesta S&D is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail with data accuracy.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to document decisions and collaborate across functions.
• Strong organization and time-management skills to handle recurring deadlines and shifting priorities.
• Interest in retail, footwear, merchandising, inventory planning, or consumer products is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage accurate transfer, enrichment, and maintenance of product data from the PIM system into Jesta S&D.
• Create and maintain item-master and planning data, including lifecycle status, ABC classifications, lead times, safety stock, supplier details, and demand forecasts.
• Validate new item setups and perform routine data audits for completeness and consistency across systems.
• Reconcile data discrepancies and partner with Merchandising, Planning, Purchasing, Sourcing, IT, and others to resolve issues affecting product, inventory, forecast, and purchasing records.
• Participate in monthly forecast meetings; document merchandising feedback, lifecycle updates, forecast assumptions, and planning decisions; perform approved system updates.
• Support purchase-order placement and maintenance, including lead-time management and supplier-capacity monitoring through Power BI dashboards.
• Develop and maintain recurring reports and dashboards supporting forecasting, purchasing, inventory management, and supplier-capacity decisions.
• Perform ad hoc analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into business insights.
• Participate in user acceptance testing for Jesta S&D enhancements and other system projects; document results and issues.
• Follow data-governance procedures and maintain process documentation; recommend improvements to data and reporting processes.
