Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a Planner, Production 2 to independently manage SAP-based demand, supply, and production planning for site operations and complex contracts. You will analyze schedules, material availability, and WIP, guiding priorities to maintain a 45-day balance and ensure on-time delivery.

The role partners with Procurement and Operations, supports period close, and leads planning meetings. A strong SAP background and 7+ years in planning are expected.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred.
• 7+ years in production operations, materials planning, or related supply chain function; experience resolving complex planning, inventory, and SAP issues preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently develops and maintains production and material plans for assigned site operations and/or more complex contracts; evaluates schedule requirements, WIP, inventory levels, and material availability to determine planning priorities and corrective actions.
• Leads SAP planning administration for contracts, BOMs, routings, work centers, confirmations, and daily production records; reviews transaction accuracy and directs corrections for period close.
• Partners with Procurement to determine material requirements, prepare and prioritize requisitions, and resolve supplier or timing issues affecting schedule attainment and inventory targets.
• Directs monthly inventory reconciliation activities for assigned areas, analyzes variances, and aligns records with the production schedule and forecasts.
• Leads production planning meetings; provides guidance to Operations, Quality, Inventory, Procurement, and Finance on risks and priorities.
• Serves as a subject matter resource for SAP planning processes; trains counterparts and recommends process improvements.

Job Summary

Planner, Production 2 independently manages SAP-based demand, supply, and production planning processes for assigned site operations and/or more complex contracts. The role analyzes production schedules, material availability, WIP, inventory levels, and period-end reconciliation issues; determines planning priorities; resolves exceptions with Operations, Quality, Procurement, Inventory, and Finance; and provides direction in planning meetings to maintain WIP and inventory within established business parameters, including the 45-day production schedule balance.

Responsibilities

• Independently develops and maintains production and material plans for assigned site operations and/or more complex contracts; evaluates schedule requirements, WIP, inventory levels, and material availability to determine planning priorities and corrective actions. 20%
• Leads SAP planning administration for contracts, BOMs, routings, work centers, confirmations, and daily production records; reviews transaction accuracy, investigates exceptions, and directs corrections needed for period close. 20%
• Partners with Procurement to determine material requirements, prepare and prioritize requisitions, and resolve supplier or order-timing issues that affect production schedule attainment and inventory targets. 20%
• Directs monthly inventory reconciliation activities for assigned areas, assigns count validation work, analyzes variances, and determines actions needed to align inventory records with the production schedule and lot forecasts. Performs other administrative production and material planning duties as assigned; may lead special planning analyses or process-improvement efforts for assigned operations. 20%
• Leads production planning meetings for assigned areas; provides guidance to Operations, Quality, Inventory, Procurement, and Finance on planning risks, priorities, and decisions required to maintain delivery commitments. 10%
• Serves as a subject matter resource for SAP planning processes; trains counterparts, reviews planning practices, and recommends process improvements to support accurate and compliant planning activity. 10%

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

• Advanced SAP production planning and materials management knowledge
• Advanced knowledge of demand planning, production planning, production scheduling, forecasting, inventory management, and inventory control
• Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on planning priorities, inventory actions, and cross-functional issue resolution
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to train others and recommend process improvements

Minimum Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Associate's Degree (AA) in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field Preferred
• 7+ years in production operations, materials planning, production planning, inventory control, procurement, or related supply chain function; experience resolving complex planning, inventory, and SAP transaction issues Preferred

Compensation And Benefits

Candidates may be required to satisfy additional job-related requirements, including those established and controlled by third parties, as part of the selection process.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $61,200 - $91,800. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
