Position Summary

The Planner/Inspector/Analyst II (PIA) will coordinate project meetings and execute business processes during all phases of project delivery. This role involves interacting with consultants, vendors, suppliers, and university personnel at all levels, requiring clear and consistent communication to meet project needs.

The PIA may also supervise student employees, training and coordinating their activities to support project delivery. A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required for traveling between project sites and attending meetings across campus.

Regular attendance is essential; a hybrid schedule is permissible after a successful probation period.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • 40% - Support project delivery, guide design, coordinate with IPM staff on contract negotiations, logistics, and project strategies. Oversee owner representation during construction and closeout, ensuring quality and customer communication. Maintain quality through skilled trade inspections.
  • 20% - Inspect project management documentation, including budgets, schedules, and compliance with Facility Asset Data Exchange. Collaborate with project administrators on financial aspects.
  • 15% - Coordinate with staff and consultants on budget estimates for campus building projects.
  • 15% - Work with Interior Designers on multi-trade projects, process documents, and manage projects using software like Planon, Unifier, Meridian.
  • 10% - Communicate project progress through reports, meetings, and official submissions, ensuring adherence to communication plans.
Minimum Requirements

Equivalent to a four-year degree in architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, construction management, urban planning, or related field; three to five years of relevant experience supporting project or engineering teams; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid U.S. driver’s license is required.

Desired Qualifications

Degree in engineering, construction management, or related; experience with estimating, MSU facilities, and MS Office 365; strong communication, problem-solving, customer service, and teamwork skills; ability to multitask, handle confidential information, and work independently on multiple projects.
