Job summary

Mesilla Valley Transportation in the Southwest is hiring a Planner to optimize freight planning and equipment utilization across our network.

The Planner will manage truck assignments, coordinate with service contracts, and work with pricing, sales, and account teams to meet KPIs.

Schedule: Monday–Friday 6:00am–4:00pm or until work is complete, and every other Saturday 8:00am–12:00pm; full-time benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or logistics or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of motor carrier operations experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Plan trucks to service contract freight and ensure equipment utilization.
• Ensure on-time pickup and delivery of customer freight.
• Maintain direct contact with team to coordinate driver, truck, and trailer assignments.
• Collaborate with pricing, sales, and account management teams.
• Balance divisional network 2–3 days in advance.
• Discuss accounts with customers and conduct in-person meetings if necessary.

The Planner is responsible for planning trucks to service contract customer freight and ensure optimal equipment utilization.

Schedule:: Monday-Friday 6:00am-4:00pm or until work is complete and every other Saturday 8:00am-12:00pm

Responsibilities:

• Ensures customer freight is planned for on time pickup and delivery.
• Manages trailer pools in designated market.
• Maintains direct contact with members of the organization to coordinate and increase the efficiency driver, truck, and trailer assignments.
• Balances divisional network at least two to three days in advance.
• Maximizes utilization by minimizing dwell under loads- specifically, looks for opportunities to re-appoint loads that would be early, looks for opportunities to convert to drop trailer pools with customers, etc.
• Works with lane flow and customer commitments to match inbound/outbound for the areas.
• Understands the area customer KPIs such as the trailer pool requirements, service numbers, commitments (Lanes/Volume and transit).
• Collaborates with the pricing, sales, and account management teams.
• Collaborates with Account Manager to develop customer account.
• Understands driver’s divisional yield off of lanes that touch the assignment areas.
• Works with customers directly to discuss accounts and may conduct in-person meetings if necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or logistics or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in the motor carrier operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Moderate knowledge of motor carrier operations and geography preferred.
