Mesilla Valley Transportation is seeking a Trailer Technician II in Laredo, TX to inspect, repair, and maintain trailers, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company standards. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, weld and fabricate as needed, and verify post-repair function.

Qualifications include a High School diploma and 2+ years of mechanic experience; DOT certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years or more years' experience in mechanic work or training.
• DOT certification is required for Trailer Mechanic.
• Licensed Mechanic Journeyman preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair trailers according to company/OEM standards.
• Ensure equipment operates correctly and complies with DOT regulations.
• Perform DOT and general inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues across trailer components.
• Repair damage to trailer panels, doors, hinges, floors, and axles.
• Weld and fabricate as needed for repairs.
• Repair or replace tires following company guidelines for PSI, wear, and tread depth.
• Document completed work, including 3Cs and notes in company maintenance software.
• Inspect and clean parts, order replacements as necessary.
• Verify proper equipment function post-repair.
• Use tools effectively to minimize downtime.
• Assist Trailer Supervisor with additional tasks as required.
• Maintain cleanliness in the work area.

Join the MVT Team!!! Mesilla Valley Transportation is now hiring Trailer Technicians in Laredo, Texas!

Trailer Technician II repairs and maintains trailers to ensure operational efficiency and compliance, achieving recognition for key support within the team and promptly resolving issues as they arise under management direction.

Schedule:

Tuesday-Saturday 3:30pm-12:00 am

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and repair trailers according to company/OEM standards.
• Ensure equipment operates correctly and complies with Department of Transportation regulations.
• Perform DOT and general inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues across trailer components.
• Repair damage to trailer panels, doors, hinges, floors, and axles.
• Weld and fabricate as needed for repairs.
• Repair or replace tires following company guidelines for PSI, wear, and tread depth.
• Conduct general fleet maintenance, including lights, air brakes, wheel ends, suspension, and other repairs.
• Document completed work, including 3Cs and notes in company maintenance software.
• Inspect and clean parts, order replacements as necessary.
• Verify proper equipment function post-repair.
• Use tools effectively to minimize downtime.
• Assist Trailer Supervisor with additional tasks as required.
• Maintain cleanliness in the work area.

Work Environment:

• Indoor and Outdoor environment.
• Employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions including direct sunlight & heat.
• Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold and extreme heat.
• Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
