Job summary

Rex Lumber in Graceville, FL is seeking a Quality Control Assistant to monitor planer/sawmill operations and help maximize lumber recovery from each log. This on-site position requires measuring dimensions, performing daily quality checks, and maintaining accurate records.

Starting pay is $20.00+ per hour, based on experience, with 12-hour day shifts Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays. Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Understand lumber manufacturing processes and material flow.
• Ability to read gauges, record data and report findings.
• Solid math skills and ability to maintain production tallies.
• Team player with reliability and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Consistently measure and record thickness & width at each machine center.
• Perform daily quality checks to ensure optimum machine performance.
• Document findings, maintain records and communicate to mill personnel when lumber is off spec.
• Assist mill personnel in bringing lumber back into specification.
• Provide training to mill personnel on identifying quality issues and communicating with QC Supervisor.
• Generate reports showing performance trends on quality indicators.
• Complete production tallies, downtime tallies and daily reports as required.
• Assist supervisor in developing quality processes in other areas as needed.
• All other duties assigned by supervisor.
