Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is looking for a strategic, detail-driven Plan Review Supervisor (Civil Engineer Supervisor) to oversee complex engineering reviews and guide a team of Civil Engineers safeguarding Seattle’s essential assets.This role is more than project oversight — it’s about making sure that every street, storm drain, and utility connection built by or for the City of Seattle aligns with SPU’s standards and long-term goals. SPU also provides drinking water for 1.5 million customers in the region. SPU’s work includes system maintenance and improvements and keeping Seattle clean. Over 1,400 SPU employees work with our community to provide affordable and equitable stewardship of our water and waste resources for future generations.Lead and manage a team of 3–5 Civil Engineers conducting plan reviews of capital projects for impacts to SPU-owned water, wastewater, and drainage infrastructure
Assign and prioritize workloads to balance team capacity, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent quality across reviews and deliverables
Review construction plans and submittals for compliance with Seattle’s stormwater code, SPU standards, and City specifications
Education:Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in engineering, accounting, business administration, construction management, public policy, or a related field.
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Effective January 2025, City employees will have the option to work remotely two days a week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
